Dump Trucks
It was in 1920 that the first dump truck originated that has since developed into our modern trucks. Robert Mawhinney gets the credit for this first when he placed a dump box onto a flat bed truck. Robert's mechanism for lifting the dump box was not like what we use today but rather a winch and cable method using a mast that worked to lift and dump the load. Instead of using hydraulics as is the standard now this device was hand cranked. Yet it was this unique beginning that has let to the dump equipped vehicles we now rely on.
